Join us as we celebrate the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi (which is technically on Oct. 4). We will take a special opportunity to bless our animals at Iona House that night - recognizing the unique ministry they provide amongst us and remembering how much Francis loved the whole created order.
Great Tradition Lecture Series
Lecture: “How the Early Church formed Christians”
Friday, October 9 (following Friday Night Feast)
Dr. Alex Fogleman (Trinity Anglican Seminary) will be with us at Iona House to offer a special lecture on the Early Church’s approach to Christian Formation. Dr. Fogleman’s research and scholarship has been focused largely on the topic of catechesis and Patristic theology. He is the Associate Dean of Special Programs, the Director of the Doctor of Ministry Program, and the Director of the Robert Webber Center. His most recent book, Making Disciples, is an award winning overview of the history and importance of catechesis in the Church.

We have a special opportunity to engage in conversation with Dr. Alex Fogleman amidst our rhythm of life (Morning/Midday Prayer + Work + Provided lunch)
Symposium focus: In an age of isolation and individualism, what can Christians learn from the spiritual riches of the church’s Great Tradition? How can formation be reimagined not as an idiosyncratic practice of self-formation but a gift given and received—something to which we become attuned? In this two-part seminar, participants will explore the sacramental and relational dimensions of Christian formation, drawing especially on the early church’s approach to discipleship and catechesis.

Advent Choral Evensong
Fridays - December 4, 11, 18 at 4:30pm (followed by Friday Night Feast)
Throughout the season of Advent we will be featuring a special Friday Evensong service focused on the theme of Advent (expectation for Christ’s coming). Our community choir will lead us in songs of longing, we will hear readings related to the season, offer our prayers, and enjoy a short homily on various themes of the season.
